Holland graduates from CNU
Amber Ellen Holland, a 2009 graduate of Middlesex High School, graduated from Christopher Newport University on May 11, 2013 with a BA degree in communications and minors in business administration and leadership studies.
In addition to making the dean’s list for the fall and spring semesters of her senior year, she graduated with Service Distinction (volunteering 140 or more of community service hours) and successfully completed the President’s Leadership Program (PLP), founded by university president and former U.S. Senator Paul Trible. As a member of the PLP, Holland interviewed incoming freshmen and served as a facilitator and mentor during the Summer Leadership Adventure Program.
In April of 2013, Holland’s academic research was selected to be presented at the Undergraduate Honors Conference hosted by the Southern States Communication Association in Louisville, Kentucky. She also was selected as a public relations/marketing intern during the summer of 2012 with Susan G. Komen For The Cure: Tidewater Affiliate.
While at CNU, Holland served as elected vice president and new member coordinator of the Kappa Phi Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha. She worked three years for the Department of Transfer Affairs as a student manager and transfer admissions intern.
Holland wants to pursue her master’s degree in higher education and work with students in the university setting.
She is proudly recognized by the Christopher Newport Alumni Society as a Third Generation Legacy of Christopher Newport University following the footsteps of her mother, Laura Evans Holland ‘87, and her grandfather, Wayne A. Evans ‘84.
