Free back-to-school haircuts offered Aug. 26 at The Cryer Center

On Saturday, August 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., free haircuts will be offered to all children returning to school. There will be four hairstylists from Coiffures By Joanne at the Cryer Center in Locust Hill to offer this free service. Joanne Edwards, owner of Coiffures, said, “Our desire is to give back to this wonderful community. I have been cutting hair since I was 18 years old and my stylists and I are looking forward to coming here to volunteer our services.”

This free hair-cutting service coincides with the bi-monthly yard sale at the Cryer Center, which takes place from 7:30 a.m.-noon. The stylists will be in the air-conditioned office space. They are traveling from Richmond and bringing four parlor chairs to set up in the Cryer Center. They will be unable to shampoo hair, but will cut children’s hair according to instructions from the parents. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If time allows, others can get haircuts. “Our primary goal is to get the children ready for school; however, others are welcomed if we are able,” said Joanne.

Edwards also owns Old Williamsburg Barber Shop in Richmond on Davis Avenue. She and her stylists have many years of experience.

Edwards owns a home in Remlik. “Although my businesses are in Richmond, I love living in Middlesex,” she said.
