On Friday, October 19, four seniors from Mr. Somerville’s government class at Middlesex High School paid a visit to the Middlesex Elementary School kindergarten class.
The four young men, Andrew Dozier, Richard Matte, Zachary O’Bryan and William Dickerson, were fulfilling a community service requirement for their class.
All government students are expected to take on a community service project in order to pass Mr. Somerville’s class. The boys have also volunteered for Middlesex volunteer fire and rescue squads for the past year.
First-graders were given a hands-on lesson in fire safety. Topics included emergency procedures for house fires, specifically how to best contact local dispatchers, review of stop drop-and-roll maneuver, and gave students an up close and personal tour of the fire truck and equipment. It was an educational and informative experience for everyone involved.
