Family Education Program to be offered in Middlesex

The Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board (MPNNCSB) Prevention Services staff will offer the “Family Education Program” in Middlesex County beginning September 9. The program is a 15-week course for parents and their children, ages 5-11.

The program is designed to increase family communication, cooperation, closeness and respect. Parents and children—meeting separately and together—learn to handle feelings, communicate needs, understand each other better, take charge of their own behaviors, feel good about themselves, enjoy each other and have fun. Practical, effective techniques are taught for handling challenging behavior and conflicts.

The group meets in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere and is free of charge. The program will be held on Tuesday evenings at Middlesex High School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided each night during the 15-week course.

For more information or to enroll, call (804) 758-9398 or toll free at 1-888-773-8550.
