England receives honors in human resources field
Lenea England of Shacklefords has earned the prestigious Senior Human Resource Professional (SPHR) Certification and the completion of a master of science degree in human resource development. England, a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society, graduated from Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pa.
The SPHR certification exam, a nationally recognized certification administered by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI), serves as a visible acknowledgement of demonstrated mastery of core human resource (HR) principles and skills essential to the best practice of HR. The HRCI, a global leader in developing rigorous exams to demonstrate mastery and real-world application of forward-thinking HR practices, policies and principles, states, “Certified HR Professionals are leaders, willing mentors and trusted partners, serving both their organizations and the profession.”
England thanked the Job Assistance Center (JAC) and the Bay Consortium Workforce Investment Board for providing her with both financial and moral support through the process of preparing for and passing the SPHR exam, a mandatory requisite for receiving her masters diploma. Funding from the Workforce Investment Act enabled her to take the SPHR/PHR preparation course through the Center for Corporate Education at Virginia University.
In August 2013, England and her business partner, Sue Owens, launched INNOV8 Change LLC. Through education and collaboration, the company offers values-based leadership solutions for organizational change and workforce development. For more information, contact England at or 804-832-9565.
