Election speakers

Neil Bailey’s 8th grade civics class held an assembly on Monday to inform other St. Clare Walker Middle School students about the presidential candidates’ position on important issues such as the economy, health care and education. Students with the best presentations in class were chosen to speak at the assembly. On Tuesday, all SCW students participated in a mock election. Obama defeated McCain, 101-63; Warner defeated Gilmore, 74-48; and Wittman defeated Day 62-50. Students were reminded of their civic responsibility to stay informed on the issues and to choose a candidate based on facts. Presenters pictured above include, front row from left, Mercedes Vargas, Kirstin Cole, Allison Payne, Lilly Crown, Zachary Jones and Brianna Fleming; back row, Blake Damron, Brianna Dunlevy, Brooke Rowe, Anthony Burrell,  Jacob Lawson, Trey Major and Bradley Wingfield.
