Dr. Pamela James to present at VMEA conference
Christchurch School Dean of Instruction, Donny Pyles, announces that CCS instructor Dr. Pamela James (Chorale, Music Exploration and Experience, World Drumming and Guitar) has been selected to present at the Virginia Music Educator’s Association conference at the Homestead Resort in November. Dr. James, along with her dissertation advisor, will preside over a session based on work she did with her Music Exploration and Experience class last year at Christchurch. They will present “The use of informal music learning practices in a high school music exploration and experience class.”
James has also been asked to present at the National Association for Music Education’s bi-annual All-Eastern conference at Hartford, CT in April. “Classroom Connections: An Engaging Philosophy of Classroom Management” is based on strategies Dr. James has researched and learned as a result of the hands-on nature of a music classroom.
Dr. James is a Doctor of Musical Arts, Music Education with a degree from Shenandoah University’s Shenandoah Conservatory. Prior to joining the Christchurch faculty last year, Dr. James was an Assistant Professor of Music at Lynchburg College.
