Christchurch students to study erosion

Students in Dr. Dean Goodwin’s marine science classes at Christchurch School are collaborating this spring with students in Randolph-Macon College’s Advanced Environmental Problem-Solving Class in order to resolve a real-world problem.

A landowner at Mosquito Point near White Stone has engaged the students to come up with a solution for land erosion on the property. The Christchurch students will be involved in data collection and fieldwork, research of best practices, weighing pros and cons, and presenting final recommendations.

The R-MC Problem-Solving Class includes students in both hard and soft scientific fields, including ecology, political science, sociology, biology, geology and chemistry.
