As the 2013-14 school year quickly approaches, Middlesex High School will have a new resource available to its students—the Charger Closet.
Recently, the Good Sam Club met at Bethpage Camp-Resort near Urbanna and while there they collected over $400 to help kick-off this worthy project. The Charger Closet is a real closet, stocked with non-perishable food items, school supplies, personal health and sanitary items, and a limited amount of emergency clothing. It is available throughout the day for use by students who either self-refer or are referred by a staff member who feels the student would benefit from this resource.
During the second half of the last school year the program was implemented on a limited basis as an extension of the BackPackBuddy program that is used in the elementary and middle schools.
“In September, a more detailed article about the Charger Closet will be published after it is fully stocked and operational for all students,” said Duke. “For now, a special thank-you to the members of the Good Sam Club for helping to get this worthwhile project up and running.”
