CCS honors underclassmen
The following Christchurch School students in grades 9-11 were recognized for excellence at the school’s annual Spring Awards Ceremony.
The Outstanding Student Award recognizes the boy and girl in each class that has best exemplified excellence in scholarship, co-curricular participation and citizenship in this school year:
9th Grade—Sydney Jordan Pitts of Urbanna, and Shao Han Zhang of Beijing, China.
10th Grade—Emma Caroline Keesee of Hartfield, and Taylor John Goodwin of Hartfield.
11th Grade—Joy Re-Ann Leonard of Deep Run, N.C., and Noah Richard Johnson of Heathsville.
The Danforth Award recognizes two juniors who demonstrate personal integrity, lead well-rounded lives, have a willingness to assume responsibility and show emerging leadership skills. The winners were Anna Leigh Moore of Saluda, Monica Isabel Hurtarte Martinez of Guatemala City, Guatemala.
The Sewanee Award for Excellence in Writing was presented to Noah Richard Johnson.
The Jefferson Book Award went to Dalton James Anderson of Water View.
The Foreign Language Prizes were awarded to Monica Isabel Hurtarte Martinez (Chinese), and Dalton James Anderson (Spanish).
The Christchurch School Permanent Collection Award was presented to Anne Victoria Hodgkins of Fairfax.
