Butterfly celebration
Michelle Bland and her first grade class (above) at Middlesex Elementary watched two tiny hungry caterpillars grow, change into a chrysalis, and come out beautiful monarch butterflies throughout the month of September. They had a “ceremony” and celebration to send the butterflies off to a warmer place. The students learned the SOL term “migrate,” and were very excited with this learning experience.
