Bright Beginnings brightens school year for 54 children

When the school bells ring this week, 54 children will walk the hallways with confidence and determination. As a testament to the outpouring of donor support and a partnership with the Middlesex Department of Social Services, the YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program took youngsters back to school shopping on Thursday, August 17. The Bright Beginnings program pairs a child with a caring adult volunteer “shopping buddy,” and children learn that our community cares about them and wants them to succeed. YMCA Bright Beginnings makes for confident and prepared kids on the first day of school and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow.

Since 2003 YMCA Bright Beginnings has helped more than 10,000 children in need prepare to start the new school year ready to learn with more than 25 back-to-school shopping trips every August.

To support the Y’s mission in Middlesex year-round, the Annual Campaign provides scholarships, enriching programs and opportunities for all. Giving has never been easier. Donate online at http://www.peninsulaymca.org/donate or call, visit or email. The YMCA is at 11487 General Puller Highway, Hartfield, and is a 501c3 charitable organization. Give today. Call 804-316 -9191 or e-mail .
