Bay Governor’s School 20-year anniversary fundraiser is Saturday

The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School (CBGS) is celebrating 20 years of educating outstanding high school students from 14 school divisions in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula in an enriched program of marine and environmental sciences.

On Saturday, November 10, the CBGS Education Foundation will host a fundraising gala from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Deltaville Maritime Museum & Holly Point Nature Park Events Pavilion.

“This will be a fun event for alumni, students, and families to mingle, perhaps with those you haven’t seen for a while and for current students and staff to connect,” said Terri Perkins, director of CBGS. “Along with some great food, we’ll also hear from faculty and alumni.” To learn more about the school go to

The CBGS Education Foundation invites the community to join in this fundraising celebration and to help support efforts to raise funds for scholarships, equipment purchases, and other needs. Foundation members include current and past CBGS parents, alumni, supportive business and community, the director of CBGS, and a faculty liaison. In honor of the CBGS 20th anniversary, the foundation’s goal is to raise $20,000 to further its mission to support a challenging and enriching education experience that maximizes the learning potential of every CBGS student and prepares them to succeed in the global community of the future.
