Bands’ fruit sale continues

The St. Clare Walker and Middlesex High School Bands’ Fruit Sale is under way. Sales will continue through October 23. Fruit will be delivered to you on November 20.

During this year’s sale, band members will take orders for grove-fresh Indian River Florida navel oranges, red grapefruit, and mandarin oranges. Mixed boxes of navel and red grapefruit will also be sold. The fruit sale will raise much needed funds to support the award-winning band programs at St. Clare Walker Middle School and Middlesex High.

“The students work hard throughout the year,” said SCW band director Daphne Guill. “We are fortunate to have many talented musicians in the band programs. The fruit sale is a way for you to support them as they continue to grow as musicians and represent the community.”

The band students have put in hours of practice this year and you can help support the band operations and activities throughout the year by purchasing Florida citrus. This is the band’s biggest fundraiser and proceeds help with many costs such as instrument repairs, purchasing new instruments, music for performances, as well as transportation for the spring competition.

“I am pleased and proud of the students’ hard work and dedication,” said MHS band director Smith Waylett.

There are two ways you can order fruit to support the bands. First, you can order from a seventh, eighth or high school band member. Secondly, you may place an order with Mrs. Guill through e-mail at or call St. Clare Walker at 758-2561. Place an order with Middlesex High at 757-869-4974.
