On Feb. 20, 17 sixth-grade students and their teacher, Mrs. Watkins, from Aylett Country Day School visited the Capitol in Richmond to learn more about Virginia’s long history and its government. The students stopped by the office of Delegate Harvey Morgan of Middlesex to learn more about his responsibilities in representing the 98th District and the overall functions of the General Assembly. The field trip concluded with an opportunity to observe the House in session from the gallery of the House Chamber, where the students were introduced. The students have been learning about the Colonial House of Burgesses and were excited finally to see much of what they had been taught come to life.
