The middle school at Aylett Country Day School (ACDS) took part in the Christmas Adoption Program sponsored by The Haven retirement home.
The students raised a total of $594 by doing jobs around their homes or neighborhoods to provide for a family of four this Christmas. They took a shopping trip to Tappahannock on December 3 to purchase gifts from a wish list given to The Haven by each family member.
The students greatly enjoyed the experience. “We got to provide for people in need, which made our hearts warm, knowing we provided a very good Christmas for a family,” said 8th-grader Karrh Waring.
Seventh-grader Zoie Browder added, “It was awesome. Our class is giving a little boy a good first Christmas.”
ACDS and its students are committed to helping to serve the needs of others. The school is in the midst of a campaign to assist the families of Belmar Elementary in New Jersey.
