Aylett Country Day School graduates

Aylett Country Day School (ACDS) at Millers Tavern graduated 13 eighth-graders at its recent commencement. Graduates in the ACDS Class of 2014 include, front row from left, Kathy Michos, Sara Pierce, SaraBelle Stoneham, Maria Ogg, Kasey Brimmer, Zoie Browder, Rachel Garrett and Anne Lewis Blanton; back row, Josh Marter, Austin Garrett, Freddie Garrett, Hunter Villanueva and Mason Campbell.

Through the generosity of individual families and area organizations, Aylett Country Day School was able to offer special scholarships to deserving students, which are presented during the school’s recent graduation ceremony.

Those students are Lily Fischetti, recipient of The Thomas Family Memorial Scholarship, established by the Thomas Family in memory of Charlie and Herta Thomas; Tyler Davis, recipient of The Gwathmey-Copeland Memorial Scholarship, established by the Gwathmey and Copeland families in memory of Dr. Owen Gwathmey, Garnett Gwathmey Copeland ’75, and Jake Copeland ’02; Victoria Tignor, recipient of The Mary Burke Parker Prize, established by the Parker family in memory of Mary Burke Parker ’98; Jaden Ellis, recipient of The G. Merl Longest Memorial Scholarship, established by Bryan and Deborah Longest Miller ’70 and Helen H. Longest in memory of G. Merl Longest, one of the original founders of ACDS; Evan Williams, the recipient of The Francis Turpin Minor Dillard Memorial Scholarship, established by Jim Dillard in memory of Frances Turpin Minor Dillard, one of the original founders of ACDS; Catesby Rose Ware, recipient of the Worthington Memorial Scholarship, established in honor of Mr. Clark Worthington III, ACDS headmaster from 1971-78; Gavin and Kallan Klear and Morgan Halsey, recipients of the Tidewater Foundation Scholarship; and Katie Jane Villanueva, recipient of The Board of Directors’ Scholarship.
