Anti-drug rally is Sunday at Antioch
Cydney Fisher, a 2009 Urbanna Oyster Festival Queen contestant, and her Little Miss Spat contestant, RuthAnne Key, have planned a mini rally to provide information on drug and alcohol prevention as part of her community service project.
The rally will be held at Antioch Baptist Church in Saluda on Sunday, September 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Kennedy Wise of King and Queen County, a counselor with the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board, and a 1983 graduate of King and Queen High School.
Wise was featured in an article in the July 2, 2009 issue of the Southside Sentinel and will share his story of what it was like living a life that involved drugs and alcohol. He will also tell the audience how he turned his life around.
There also will be games, food and much more.
Consultant Anita Sours will share information from a parent’s perspective and how drugs can affect the entire family. Everything will be free, but donations will be taken at the door. All proceeds will go to benefit prevention services.
