John Walsh and Lauren Donner, both juniors at Middlesex High School, have been selected by the local Mary Ball Washington Chapter of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge to attend the Student Leadership Conference at Valley Forge, Pa., in late April.

Selection was based on the students’ scholarship, a demonstrated interest in United States history, potential adult leadership, and a desire to further their understanding of the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Founding Fathers.

Walsh, Donner and other students from across the country will participate in the four-day conference by studying and debating the responsibilities of good citizenship and our founding principles.

The Mary Ball Washington Chapter was recently formed in Middlesex County and is a part of the national Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge, which was founded in 1949 as a not-for-profit educational organization by E.F. Hutton and others. President Eisenhower served as the organization’s first chairman and as chairman emeritus until his death in 1969.
