2 elementary teachers retire after rewarding careers
Jean Wright and Regena Kavanagh, two longtime Middlesex elementary teachers, are retiring this year. "“You don’t stay in this business and not love kids,” said Mrs. Wright. “It’s certainly not the money. It’s all about the children. I wouldn’t have done it all these years if I didn’t love the kids. I’m going to miss them."

The Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School (CBGS) held its graduation ceremony at Essex Intermediate School on Tuesday, May 31, with the 61 seniors receiving their blue and green honor cords to wear at their home school graduation ceremonies.

Rising senior Allison Crittenden, daughter of Jenny and Tommy Crittenden of Hardyville, has been named Christchurch School Trotter Scholar. Established by Ed (’49) and Mary Trotter of Lancaster, the Trotter Scholarship aims to encourage and foster a rising senior’s vocation to Christian ministry.

The 118 members of the Middlesex High School Class of 2011 will graduate on Saturday, June 18, in the John S. Clements Memorial Gymnasium in Saluda. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and admission is by ticket only. Those attending must enter through the main gym entrance.
