VIMS offers ‘Make a Splash with Trash’ one-day camps
During area schools’ spring break, the Virginia Institute of Marine Science will offer one-day “Make a Splash with Trash” camps on Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. each day at Beaverdam Park, 8687 Roaring Springs Rd., Gloucester.

MES Pre-K screenings due in April
Middlesex Elementary School at Locust Hill will hold pre-kindergarten screenings on April 12, April 19, and April 26. Children being screened must be 4 years of age by September 30, 2013. The screening process takes approximately 45 minutes per child.


Schools seek 2% pay raises
School superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor reported Monday to the school board that the Governor and General Assembly have changed an initial recommendation to provide funding for a pay raise just to instructional personnel.


SCW TSA cleans up at Tidewater Regional Fair
imageEleven St. Clare Walker Middle School students competed in the Tidewater TSA Regional Fair, hosted at St. Clare Walker Middle School on March 2. Ten additional Tidewater Region middle schools competed for titles at the event.
