Chesapeake Academy students representing local Cub Scout Pack 242 and Boy Scout Troop 242 presented a special assembly to the student body on Veterans Day, expressing a collective reverence for the American flag by demonstrating a proper ceremony for its disposal when worn, torn, faded or badly soiled.

Christchurch School has been recognized as a “Green School” by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools. The school was awarded $500 toward its efforts.

In the article on historic Freeshade Community Center in the November 17 issue of the Southside Sentinel, it was stated that final consolidation of high schools in Middlesex County took place in 1950. Actually, the last class of Syringa High School graduated in June of 1948.
