Schools to change grade scale
There have been efforts in the past to change to a 10-point grade scale. Proponents have argued that since other schools use this less-stringent grade scale, students from those schools have an advantage over Middlesex students when it comes time to get into college.

The YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program, which started 4 years ago, pairs elementary age school children with volunteers; together they shop at the Kilmarnock Wal-Mart for essential clothing such as slacks, skirts, shirts, shoes, socks and jackets.

The health departments of Three Rivers Health District want area children to start the school year off smoothly and to stay healthy throughout the year. They will offer back-to-school immunization clinics in all counties.

Designed by BCWH Architects of Richmond, the completed center will feature a full atrium view of the Rappahannock River; fully-equipped laboratories for the biology, physics, chemistry, environmental and science programs; automated water quality and weather monitoring equipment for real-time data; aquarium and aquaculture tanks; and resources and equipment to allow students and faculty to develop and pursue research interests.
