Bray attends history seminar
This summer Toano Middle School history teacher Julie Bray, a resident of Hartfield, traveled to the University of Richmond to attend a one-week competitive application seminar titled “The South in American History.”

2011 Parker Prize & Copeland Scholarship
The Jake Copeland Scholarship is awarded each year at the Aylett Country Day School graduation to the rising middle school student who most closely emulates the qualities demonstrated by the late Jake Copeland. The Mary Burke Parker Prize, awarded at the Aylett Country Day School graduation to the middle school student who demonstrated the greatest academic improvement over the past year.


Boating safety class is Saturday in Urbanna
US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 62 of Deltaville will offer an “About Boating Safety” class at the Middlesex County Woman’s Club building at 210 Virginia St. in Urbanna on Saturday, July 9, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The class is free of charge. Textbooks may be purchased for $20.


Edwards graduates from Lynchburg College
imageKaitlin Healy Edwards, daughter of William and Jennifer Edwards of Church View, graduated from Lynchburg College on May 14 with a BA in business administration. Edwards also earned a spot on the dean’s list for the 2011 spring semester. Edwards is a 2007 graduate of Christchurch School.
