Trike-A-Thon for children battling cancer
A St. Jude Trike-A-Thon event will be held at 10 a.m. this Friday, August 20, at Horizons Unlimited day care. The event will teach children riding-toy safety while raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.

The Rappahannock Community College Educational Foundation Inc. (RCC/EFI) has reached its goal of raising $3 million in new contributions in two years through its “Soaring Together” major gifts campaign, according to RCC/EFI board president E.D. “Chip” Minor III.

Area school nurses attended a convention titled “School Health and Education Partnership” at Longwood University on July 11-14. The nurses received training in general sessions for school nurses, including using epidemiology to prevent the spread of disease, chronic disease management of diabetes and asthma, and oral health.
