Part of the intention of the Great Journeys initiative is to give students breadth of exposure—choices—then to encourage them to pursue their interests in depth. Great Journeys Day provides opportunities to engage in a variety of activities and to cultivate values of stewardship and service.

Recruiter gives students tips on landing ‘The’ job
Robin Epps, a recruiter with Medical Careers Institute (MCI) in Newport News, gave a presentation on interviewing skills and resumes to three classes of juniors and seniors on March 9 at Middlesex High School.

Class of 2011 cleans portion of Route 17
Last Saturday afternoon, members of the class picked up litter and other items from the highway and placed them in bright orange bags for VDOT to pick up. Class vice president Morgan Stewart said, “I can’t believe people throw all this stuff out their car windows.”

Governor’s School offers summer school
This summer the Middle Peninsula Summer Regional Governor’s School (MPSRGS) will again be hosted by Rappahannock Community College, Glenns Campus. This program provides problem-based classes for approximately 120 identified gifted students currently in grades 4-7.
