Project Based Learning in fourth grade
Fourth-graders at Middlesex Elementary School (MES) have gotten off to an exciting year. We have done numerous hands-on projects as well as engaging lessons in various subject areas. While studying Virginia Geography, we replicated the map of Virginia using play dough and cookie mix.

Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster County will hold an “Archaeology for Kids” program on Sunday, October 27, at 2 p.m. Archaeologist Mike Makin will explain the duties of an archaeologist, the difference between fossils and artifacts, and how site work is conducted.

On October 20 over 150 friends and family celebrated the beautiful fall season at Lower United Methodist Church for the Family Fall Festival. In collaboration with the Middlesex Family YMCA, this annual event brings our community together for a free lunch, pony rides, fire trucks, a candy hunt, face painting, s’mores making and more!
