Owens earns third place in business competition
Candice Owens, a Longwood University junior from Water View, was recently a third place winner in a statewide business leadership competition. Owens took third place honors in International Business in competition sponsored by the Virginia Chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, held March 31 in Richmond.

Pre-kindergarten & kindergarten signup is Friday
Middlesex Elementary School at Locust Hill will hold pre-kindergarten and kindergarten registration on Friday, April 20, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. All students entering school will need to have a school entrance physical examination prior to the first day of school.

Norton Scholarship deadline is May 16
Applications are now being accepted for the Horace Norton Memorial Scholarship and are due no later than May 16. Those eligible to apply are seniors who will graduate from Middlesex High School in June 2012 or have previously graduated from this school.

Duke named principal of MHS
On April 2, the Middlesex County School Board accepted the resignation of Middlesex High School (MHS) principal Dr. Stephen Castle who announced that he will be leaving at the end of the school year. “Dr. Castle has decided to work closer to home to have more time with his family in the Richmond-metro area,” said school superintendent Dr. James Lane.
