Ware fifth-graders visit Washington, D.C.
imageThe Ware Academy 5th grade traveled to Washington, D.C., to see the replicas of the Terra Cotta Warriors, who were guardians of China’s First Emperor, and to view the pandas at the National Zoo to culminate their Ancient China unit of study.

‘Step Afrika!’ entertains Ware students
imageOn March 12, “Step Afrika!” entertained and inspired Ware students and special guests, the Pre-K4 and kindergarten students from Grace Episcopal School of Yorktown, with an irrepressible, energetic show full of knee-slaps and flat-footed stomps!


Pennies for Haiti raises $1,900
imageRecently the PTO and Builders Club at St. Clare Walker Middle School held a “penny war” called Pennies for Haiti. The school collected pennies in a jar for points. Any silver that was put into the jar was deducted from the point total. The homeroom with the most points won a pizza party and ice cream.


Program to focus on underage drinking
Underage drinking is an important community concern. Among eighth-graders, about 1 in 20 (5.4%) reported being drunk at least once in the past month. Nearly 1 out of every 7 tenth-graders (14.4%), and about 2 out of every 7 twelfth-graders (27.6%) reported being drunk at least once in the last month.
