MES seeks ‘Lunch Pals’
Middlesex Elementary School is seeking “Adult Lunch Pals” from the community for the coming school year. Adult Lunch Pals will be paired with “Student Pals” and eat lunch with them once a week at the school.

Schools to change grade scale
There have been efforts in the past to change to a 10-point grade scale. Proponents have argued that since other schools use this less-stringent grade scale, students from those schools have an advantage over Middlesex students when it comes time to get into college.


YMCA to help 15 students prepare for school
The YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program, which started 4 years ago, pairs elementary age school children with volunteers; together they shop at the Kilmarnock Wal-Mart for essential clothing such as slacks, skirts, shirts, shoes, socks and jackets.


Immunizations available to school students
The health departments of Three Rivers Health District want area children to start the school year off smoothly and to stay healthy throughout the year. They will offer back-to-school immunization clinics in all counties.
