Sixth-graders receive life skills training
The Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board Prevention Services Division (MP-NNCSB) is implementing the research-based program “LifeSkills Training” to sixth grade students in the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck region during the 2009-10 school year.

Music Contest open to instrumentalists, vocalists
Middlesex, Mathews and Lancaster counties are looking for gifted young people in the vocal or instrumental area who would be interested in winning a musical scholarship. This year’s competition has been scheduled for Saturday, January 30, at 2 p.m. at Lower United Methodist Church on Route 33 at Hartfield.


RCC celebrates 40th anniversary
imageAt 12:30 p.m. on January 9, 2010, Dr. Elizabeth Hinton “Sissy” Crowther, president of Rappahannock Community College, called on college founders, community leaders, and RCC representatives assembled for a festive lunch at Bethpage Camp-Resort near Urbanna to clink their glasses in celebration.


Middlesex schools await decision on state funding
School superintendent Rusty Fairheart has recommended the Middlesex County School Board take a wait-and-see position on probable significant cuts in state school funds in the upcoming 2010-11 (FY11) school budget.
