School superintendents: ‘It is time to be alarmed’
Superintendents and other education representatives from all 133 school districts in Virginia held a press conference this week to announce the budget reduction strategies they are considering to address proposed state and local budget cuts.

The Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck Community Services Board Prevention Services Division (MP-NNCSB) is implementing the research-based program “LifeSkills Training” to sixth grade students in the Middle Peninsula-Northern Neck region during the 2009-10 school year.


Music Contest open to instrumentalists, vocalists
Middlesex, Mathews and Lancaster counties are looking for gifted young people in the vocal or instrumental area who would be interested in winning a musical scholarship. This year’s competition has been scheduled for Saturday, January 30, at 2 p.m. at Lower United Methodist Church on Route 33 at Hartfield.
