Twelve complete First Responder Class
imageThe recent First Responder Class at the Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad (CMVRS) in Urbanna is the initial EMS certification program offered in Virginia. A 40-hour minimum program, it offered much more than basic first aid, but not quite the depth of the 110-plus hour EMT Basic class that several of these students hope to transition to in the fall.

Young marine scientists
imageChesapeake Bay Governor’s School (CBGS) summer enrichment camp, “Hot Days-Cool Science,” hosted by Rappahannock Community College, took a field trip to the Urbanna Town Marina where they spent the morning fishing, crabbing, checking water quality and learning about the creatures and history of the Chesapeake Bay.


Heyman earns honors
Susan Heyman, daughter of Martha Heric and Joe Heyman of Urbanna, has received several honors at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, N.C., where she is a rising senior


Walton Graduates
imageKendall Clayburn Walton (above) graduated from Longwood University on May 10 with a BS degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting.
