Obama writes to NAACP Youth Works student
In her letter, Brown stated that she would like to see homelessness and poverty decreased and standards of living improved in the United States. Brown told President Obama her desire was that homeless and low-income families would be able to celebrate Christmas and other holidays as normal families do.

Oyster roast due Oct. 16 at Chesapeake Academy
imageThe oyster roast, based on the popular roll-up-your-sleeves southern tradition, features sacks of fresh, local oysters in the shell dumped over outdoor grills and grilled until juice starts to bubble out of their shells. Then they are delivered to the tables where they need a nudge from an oyster knife to release the top shell and seductive aromas.


Ferrum to break ground on Hank Norton Center
Ferrum College has announced plans for a new athletic center to be named for retired coach Hank Norton, Ferrum’s renowned former athletic director and championship football coach.
Norton is a longtime resident of Deltaville.
