Parents invited to meet with school officials
Each month, Middlesex School Superintendent Dr. James Lane has hosted a meeting at each school to allow parents and community members the opportunity to ask questions and discuss concerns about the school division as part of a monthly coffee session.

Market Days teaches students about money
imageThe first grade classes at Middlesex Elementary School (MES) have been studying about producers, consumers, goods/services, wants and needs, and money. Each student became a producer and made goods such as picture frames, jewelry boxes, sun catchers, sun visors, beaded necklaces, and much more for them to sell at Market Days.


Chesapeake Academy accepting applications
Chesapeake Academy is currently accepting applications for admissions for the 2012-13 school year for students in pre-kindergarten 3-4 through grade 8. Openings are available in selected grade levels. After-school care until 5:30 p.m. is offered for students ages 3 to 14.


County art teacher featured in magazine
A story by local art teacher Elizabeth Blackwell was featured in a recent publication of Arts & Activities Magazine, which serves art educators. Blackwell, the art teacher at St. Clare Walker Middle School, developed a clay project called “Character Bowls” for her sixth-graders. A photo of the student’s creations ran in the magazine with Blackwell’s article.
