CCS students study local African-American history
imageOne year ago, Christchurch School students staged a peaceful sit-in to emphasize to school administrators their desire to observe Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday in a meaningful way. The administration listened, and the entire Christchurch community held a day of community service in honor of Dr. King.

MHS players tutoring elementary students
imageMiddlesex High School football team players who are not playing winter sports are tutoring at the elementary school as part of an overall effort by MHS head coach Josh Franke to stimulate community service among his players. The players are in weightlifting and conditioning programs four days a week and on Thursday they go to the elementary school, Franke said.


GED testing offered in February
Middle Peninsula R.A.C.E. will offer GED testing on Tuesday, February 21, and Thursday, February 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Acquinton Elementary School in King William. To register, call the R.A.C.E. office at 804-769-1151. The registration deadline is one week prior to the testing date.


MES begins reading project
imageThis February there will be a lot of penguins in Middlesex County. Students, parents, caregivers, and the staff of Middlesex Elementary School will be reading “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” by Richard and Florence Atwater from February 1-29. Every family at MES will receive a copy of Mr. Popper’s Penguins, and every family will read the book at home together in February.
