19 Grads from Glenns Campus Governor’s School
imageMembers of the class as a whole have given over 2,800 hours of community service, with three earning Presidential Community Service Awards: two at the Bronze level for 100-249 hours; and one at the Gold level for over 300 hours in one academic year.

Last original RCC faculty member retires
“In the 70s and 80s, this was the best place to be, this side of heaven,” said Rappahannock Community College associate professor Gerald Horner, who retired at the end of the spring semester from a position teaching health, physical education, and recreation.

Chesapeake presents Spring Sing
image“Singing into Spring” was the theme for Chesapeake Academy’s Spring Sing 2009 concert directed by music teacher Beth Somers on May 28. The musical play "Bugz" was performed by students in kindergarten through fourth grade dressed as insects going to a picnic, said spokeswoman Julia Zimmerman.

Awards presented at Christchurch graduation
imageHeadmaster John E. Byers addressed the 52 seniors. “Christchurch School is about making you think. Think. Think about who you are, what you are becoming, and what you will be in the world. Great journeys begin at the river means understanding yourself, your world, and your place. Think. Think. Put away the iPod, take out the earphones, turn off the TV, close the laptop, silence your phone. Let’s think. Who are you?” said Byers.
