Helping the food bank
imageThe Middlesex Family YMCA Preschool Class has grown tremendously this year and currently has 36 students in the class. Along with monthly field trips and holiday parties, the youth will be doing a community service project and this year the theme is “giving and sharing.”

Boatyard workers earn certification through RCC
imageEight employees of Deltaville Boatyard in Middlesex County recently earned certification as “journeymen” in various specialties. This certification, from the Virginia Department of Labor, recognizes between 2,000 and 4,000 hours of on-the-job training and over 500 hours of completed class work.


C. Herbert Brown Jr. Scholarship established
After Mr. Brown’s death of multiple myeloma in August of this year, the Brown family suggested donations to Arts Alive Inc. in lieu of flowers. More than $5,000 was donated in his memory, and the board would like to honor Mr. Brown’s memory by giving back to the community he loved.


Freedoms Foundation meeting set
imageThe goals of the chapter is to inform area citizens, particularly young upcoming leaders (high school juniors) what our forefathers endured to form this country, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and how the U.S. free enterprise system has made this country what it is today.
