Valdrighi named assistant principal
Chris Valdrighi of Weems has been named assistant principal of New Kent High School for the 2009-2010 school year. Valdrighi currently serves as the project director for the Summer Jobs for Youth Network, a Jessie Ball duPont Fund grant program through the Workforce Development office of Rappahannock Community College. Prior to that, he served as principal at Middlesex High School and as a school administrator in Essex County.

The mission of State 4-H Congress is to provide educational experiences to Virginia Senior 4-H members. Congress helps develop life skills and leadership abilities. Events included assemblies, competitions, dances, workshops and much more.
07.01.2009Twelve complete First Responder Class
The recent First Responder Class at the Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad (CMVRS) in Urbanna is the initial EMS certification program offered in Virginia. A 40-hour minimum program, it offered much more than basic first aid, but not quite the depth of the 110-plus hour EMT Basic class that several of these students hope to transition to in the fall.

Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School (CBGS) summer enrichment camp, “Hot Days-Cool Science,” hosted by Rappahannock Community College, took a field trip to the Urbanna Town Marina where they spent the morning fishing, crabbing, checking water quality and learning about the creatures and history of the Chesapeake Bay.
