First-graders learn about Native Americans
imageFirst-graders learned on November 7 that arrowheads are not just a bunch of rocks and that Middlesex County was home to Native Americans long before John Smith arrived in the early 1600s. Utilizing a copy of Captain Smith’s 1624 map, the students studied the Indian settlements recorded in the county.

Public invited to review proposed school textbooks
The Middlesex County Public School (MCPS) System is in the process of recommending science textbooks for adoption by the local school board. The MCPS invites any member of the community to view the textbook options and to provide feedback.


St. Margaret’s names new head of school
St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock is pleased to announce that Lindy MacDonald Williams has been selected as the 11th Head of St. Margaret’s School. The official announcement was made in the school’s chapel on October 25 by President of Church Schools David Charlton and past parent William Tyson.


GED tests offered in King William
Middle Peninsula R.A.C.E. will offer GED testing on Tuesday and Thursday, December 11 and 13, from 5-9 p.m. at Acquinton Elementary School, 18550 King William Road, King William.
