Board votes to demolish unstable school buildings
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors has accepted a bid of $81,755 by WHW Inc. of Topping to remove “unusable” buildings at two former county schools—Rappahannock Central Elementary at Cooks Corner and Wilton Elementary at Hartfield.

Workshop offered for teachers of grades K-8
The VCU Center for Economic Education is offering a workshop for K-8 teachers in this area on Tuesday, July 31, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at Rappahannock Community College, Glenns Campus. Space is limited. Registration is going on now.


Queen contestant plans fundraisers for county animal shelter
imageUrbanna Oyster Festival Queen contestant Rachel Crews is raising funds for the Middlesex Animal Shelter, which is at 2840 General Puller Hwy. at Cooks Corner behind the former Rappahannock Elementary School.


Boater safety classes offered
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 62, Deltaville, will offer About Boating Safety classes at the auxiliary Training Center, 83 Ball Park Rd., Deltaville, on Thursdays, July 12 and 19, at 7 p.m.
