Stevie’s Ice Cream - Kilmarnock

1. Stevie’s Ice Cream
With summer at full blast, Stevie’s in Kilmarnock is our reader’s choice for 2017’s best place for frozen treats to beat the heat.

This charming little establishment operates out of a tricked-out trailer. It’s hard to miss the red roof and what looks like an eclectic 40s style diner meets sprinkles wonderland. The one-of-a-kind design stems from childhood memories of a similar ice cream stand, said owner Steve Billmyer. The name is a nod to his grandmother, the only person who called him Stevie.

Outdoor seating is usually full of people savoring cones towering with freshly made soft serve ice cream. It’s a great place to catch up with friends or enjoy a game of checkers while sipping on a hand-mixed milk shake, smoothie, snow cone, latte or the popular Bay Blast—ice cream laced with candy pieces. Stevie’s serves plenty of toppings to personalize a banana split or sundae—like strawberry shortcake or cherries jubilee sundaes. The choices seem endless.

Stevie’s is guaranteed to put a smile on the face of any kid—from 3 to 93.
