Fishing on the Fly
image“In this style of fishing, the main fish we catch is the striped bass, which we call rockfish locally, but there is a variety of other fish we will catch in the summer time,” said Newsome. "I took a count one time, and I had caught about 23 different species in the Chesapeake Bay on a fly rod, so you never know what you are going to bring into the boat.”

Taken away with the Dragon Run

Welcome to Deltaville
imageIn 1909 the U.S. Postal Service accepted a local recommendation to change the name of a Chesapeake Bay community, and Sandy Bottom became Deltaville. Deltaville’s history, however, goes back much further than 100 years. In 1608, the year after Jamestown was settled, a group of English explorers led by Captain John Smith came upon the community while exploring the tributaries of the Bay.
