Welcome to Kinsale
imageA protected and historic deep-water port on the Yeocomico River, Kinsale was a bustling harbor during the Colonial era when it served as a shelter for ships that carried people and goods to and from England and other ports of call. In fact, Kinsale’s history is so rich that the Kinsale Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.

Special events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Virginia State Parks
imageBack in 1936, America was in the throes of the Great Depression. More than 20 percent of the nation’s workforce was unemployed and there was unrest on foreign shores. Americans needed to unwind and in Virginia, there was a place to do just that. On June 15, 1936, Virginia became the first state in the nation to launch an entire state park system with six parks opening on the same day. The Northern Neck is home to one of the oldest and newest of the state’s 35 parks.
