The Fishing Line
Fall arrived in classic style with a flood tide and a harvest moon. Yes, the days are shorter but fishing has come on strong with the promise of a superb season ahead. Just as our children have all settled into their school routine, so too have the fish in our region.
10.22.2010Rivah paths less traveled
Most visitors to Rivah country come for the boating, fishing or the solitude of reading a book on the shore. An aspect of the area that seemingly gets little attention is the miles and miles of walking trails. See the Rivah Parks and Recreation directory on page 26 for more area trails.
10.06.2010Free ferries are an echo of the past
The Merry Point and Sunnybank car ferries carry their passengers on a time traveling trip into the history of the area. The Northern Neck vessels are the last two free powered, cable car ferries in the state and handle about 30,000 vehicles a year.
10.06.2010Welcome to Urbanna
The Town of Urbanna was created on paper by the British Act of Cohabitation in 1680 in an effort by the English to establish towns, centers of commerce and appropriate locations for custom houses to regulate a growing tobacco trade in the Virginia colony.
