Rivah Fare: Warsaw’s little Tuscany

On a bright, cloudless weekday, I grabbed a friend and made the drive to Warsaw to try one of the area’s best kept secrets, Northern Neck Gourmet (NNG). The relaxing, scenic drive down Historyland Highway presented the perfect opportunity to roll the windows down, turn the radio up, and enjoy 29 miles of hardly a stoplight and very few other cars in sight.

This month we will find anglers heading to the water for the most diverse fishing of the year. Anglers are catching Spanish mackerel, bluefish, cobia, spadefish, flounder, whiting, speckled trout, grey trout, spot, croaker and more.
Fishing on the Fly

“In this style of fishing, the main fish we catch is the striped bass, which we call rockfish locally, but there is a variety of other fish we will catch in the summer time,” said Newsome. "I took a count one time, and I had caught about 23 different species in the Chesapeake Bay on a fly rod, so you never know what you are going to bring into the boat.”
