Crop of the Bay: Homegrown Oysters
Mark Boswell is a real maverick. Most weekdays, he’s a salesman for an Ohio-based company covering a region that spans the northeast to southern states. On Sundays he steps into the role of interim preacher at Maple Grove Baptist Church in Foxwells. And in between, he’s an oyster farmer with a start-up business operating as Fleet’s Island Oyster Company.
08.30.2012Reedville Antique & Classic Boat Show
The Rivah season is not over just because the kids are back in school. The Reedville Fishermen’s Museum and the Tidewater Chapter of Antique and Classic Boat Society for example, will host the ninth annual Reedville Antique and Classic Boat Show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 8.
So you’ve come to the Rivah and naturally the first thing you want to do is hit the water. You want to enjoy the tranquility of a natural environment, but find the jet skis and motorized boats too closely resemble the hustle and bustle of the busy highway you left behind. Still, you want an exhilarating water experience.
07.26.2012The art of relaxing
Gearing down to the relaxed pace of Virginia’s Rivah Country is hard for some folks. Those who find it difficult to do nothing may want to try an unusual experience while visiting. Zekiah Glass in Richmond County near Warsaw affords the opportunity to design and make a unique stained glass in just two days.
