Down on the Farm
 The tour on Saturday, May 29, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. includes stops at Richmond County’s Tidewater Dairy Farm, Belle Mount Vineyards and Sabine Hall and Westmoreland County’s Garner’s Produce. The tour is hosted by the Natural Resources Conservation Services, the Northern Neck Soil and Water Conservation District, Northern Neck Tourism Commission, Virginia Department of Forestry, Virginia Cooperative Extension and Rappahannock Community College.
Welcome to Kilmarnock
 Kilmarnock epitomizes small town America with quaint shops nestled along brick-edged sidewalks and evenings lit by turn-of-the-century styled street lamps. Flags mounted to storefronts wave in a breeze that carries the flavors of local restaurants—steamed shellfish, grilled steaks, or barbecue—and mixes with the salty air of surrounding creeks and the Chesapeake Bay.
When we were one
 For 17 years, from 1651–1668, Middlesex was part of Lancaster County. Why the early colonial government at Jamestown decided to take land on the south and north sides of the wide Rappahannock River and make one county is somewhat of a mystery.
