Willie Junius Gibson

Willie Junius Gibson was born on July 18, 1929 to the late Carrie Southgate Gibson and James A. Gibson. He passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017. 

Willie was educated in the King and Queen County public school system. He was reared in a loving household with his sisters, Mary and Dorothy. He was a faithful member of Second Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Army.

Willie was employed as a truck driver for Thomas Smith and a cook at Oliver Lewis Restaurant before retiring from Pitts Lumber after 34 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clementine Redmond Gibson. He is survived by his son, Orlando Gibson (Tomeka); three grandchildren, Shakira Gibson, Kris Roy and Crandall Burrell; four step-grandchildren, Amber Keyser (Keith), James Johnson, Jillian Lockley and Le’carte Lockley; great-grandchildren, X’ziya Kelly, Keyana Keyser, Keyshawn Keyser and Tyshaun Gordon; one sister-in-law, Edwardine Redmond Foskey; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service was held Sunday, October 1, 2017, at Second Mount Olive Baptist Church, Little Plymouth. Interment, with military rites, was in the church cemetery.
