Viola Mae Johnson Young Foster, affectionately known as Polly and Nana, peacefully departed her earthly vessel and life in the early hours of Sunday morning, December 29, 2013.

On April 8, 1950, Polly wedded the late Grant Foster and no children were conceived in this marriage.

Polly was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for many years but later joined Immanuel Baptist Church under the leadership and pastorship of Pastor Calvin S. Rideau Sr. and attended until her health no longer permitted her to do so.

Cherishing fond memories of Viola, “Polly,” “Nana” are her son, Rev. Tyrone Young; two daughters-in-law, Eligia and Corrine Young; one granddaughter, co-pastor Janel (Pastor Sheldon) Pleasant; six grandsons, Bryant (Sharon) Young, Tyrone (Danyelle) Young Jr., Gary (Kendra) Young, Terryance Young, Timothy Young and Terrell Young; six great-granddaughters; four great-grandsons; two great-great-granddaughters; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Charles Johnson; two sisters, Inez Chapman and Rosemary Rivers; one sister-in-law, Rosetta Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 4, at Immanuel Baptist Church, Saluda. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Service of comfort by the J.K. Redmond Funeral Home.
