Robert Wellington “Bob” Strotmeyer

Robert Wellington “Bob” Strotmeyer

Robert Wellington “Bob” Strotmeyer, 69, died peacefully on Saturday, October 27, at VCU Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, and his daughter, Catherine, who were by his side when he began his journey home. He is also survived by his brother John and sister-in-law Pam and their five children Jay, Christian, Stone (Jill), Trisha (Eddie), and Rachel; cousins, Joe, Pam, Jim (Dee); and many, many more relatives and friends.

Bob was born on October 4, 1949, in Richmond, Virginia, to Jack and Phyllis Strotmeyer. He graduated from Douglas Southall Freeman High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Atlantic Christian College. He began his sales career at Richmond Times-Dispatch and continued his sales career with Browning Ferris Industries and Giant Cement. He was a consummate salesman always willing to tell a joke or a story.

In May of 2008 Bob and Charlotte retired to Deltaville to their home on Fishing Bay. There he enjoyed a stress-free life of fishing and playing golf. He wasn’t the best golfer (although he can boast of a hole-in-one) or fisherman, but if you had the pleasure of being with him on one of these adventures you would have enjoyed a lot of laughs and wonderful memories. His Thursday morning golf group was something he looked forward to every week.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 1, at Bliley’s Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, VA 23230 from 5 to 8 p.m. The service will be held on Friday, November 2, at St. Bridget, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, VA 23226 at 10 a.m. A celebration of his life will immediately follow the service at the Westwood Club, 6200 West Club Lane, Richmond, VA 23226.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Middlesex YMCA would be welcome. Please register to become an organ donor.
